Spare a thought this Lent?

21st February 2020 | County Lines

The Clewer Initiative

Lent is a time when many of us choose to give things up but maybe we should instead spare a thought for those who do not have this option?

Instead of denial, fasting and abstinence, why not make Lent 2020, the year you focus on learning something new about the most marginalised people in our communities?

We have developed a six-week Lent course on the subject of County Lines exploitation. County Lines is one of the most prevalent forms of modern slavery in our country and it affects thousands of vulnerable children and young people in the UK, often right in front of our very eyes.

Many people want to learn more about County Lines - they want to know how they can prevent it taking root in their communities and support victims. Our six-week Lent Course will cover all of these issues and much more!

It provides a comprehensive introduction to County Lines exploitation and is made up of spiritual reflections, fact sheets, real life stories, guided activities, background reading, and action points. You can use the material as part of a formal course at church, school or with a community group.
